(Contributed by Phoenix Chinese School) With the new year coming, good luck will shine in the sky! Phoenix Chinese School wishes everyone a Happy New Year and good luck in the Year of the Dragon! We invite you to visit the Mesa Community College Kirk Student Center Courtyard on February 10th from 11:00 am to 2:30 pm to participate in the Spring Festival Garden Party held by our school; watch performances, enjoy delicious food, and celebrate the Lunar New Year with us. In addition to teaching Chinese listening, speaking, reading and writing, Phoenix Chinese School also focuses on teaching students traditional Chinese culture. Especially for children who grew up here, they wonder why there is a Lunar New Year? There are some customs and habits during the New Year and festivals, which can be said to be completely unfamiliar. Teachers took this opportunity to introduce the origin of "Nian" to students and introduce various New Year customs. The Chinese school even holds a Spring Festival garden party every year to let everyone feel the atmosphere of the New Year. This year, in addition to traditional lion dance performances, teachers also carefully planned performances such as singing, short plays, and folk children's games. There are also Chinese knot, origami and game stalls on site. Parents of students are even more enthusiastic in providing a variety of Chinese delicacies: fried rice noodles, minced meat rice, pineapple cakes, tofu pudding, boba milk tea, various stir-fried dishes, side dishes, soups, and desserts; there are also carrot cakes, steamed rice cakes, and rice cakes for the occasion, and there are so many dishes to mention. Food can be purchased on-site using coupons for 0.5 yuan each. Welcome everyone to celebrate the New Year! If you want to know more about Phoenix Chinese School or want to join this big family, please contact the principal Cheng Xiuling (480-620-1982) or visit the school website (http://clsphoenix.org/).
