On July 4th, the Phoenix Overseas Chinese Federation successfully held a party to celebrate the Fourth of July. This year was different from previous years. There was no beauty pageant. Instead, there were various entertainment activities and performances, which was very successful. Xi Yan’s flag-presenting ceremony, sumptuous and delicious food, wonderful entertainment performances, touching youth art exhibitions and essays on the American Dream, as well as karaoke, table tennis, mahjong, calligraphy and children’s water polo games created a warm and peaceful festival atmosphere. Thank you to the volunteers for their precious time and hard work over the past two months.

Hundreds of spectators gathered together

Excellent programs continued

In addition, what I felt most deeply was that this celebration promoted the cultural integration between the eastern and central and western parts of Daluohuang City and shortened the distance between them. The activities of the Chinese overseas community in the Daluohuangcheng area are generally divided into two parts. Chinese living in the Midwest are accustomed to being called Laoqiao because they have been in the United States for a relatively long time. Every year, they hold a National Day beauty pageant and various societies hold spring banquets at the beginning of the year to wish each other a happy New Year and New Year blessings. Most of the Chinese living in the east immigrated to the United States in the past 20 years or so. They are simply called Xinqiao. They hold activities to celebrate China's National Day and Mid-Autumn Festival every year. In recent years, they have also invited old overseas Chinese to participate. , even though the distance between the east and west is only about twenty miles, both are Chinese, but the styles of the celebrations are completely different. The food served at Western celebrations is typical Chinese food, served around a garden table. The host usually speaks Cantonese and English, and the performance will start with a lion dance to wake up the new year, and some traditional operas and dances will be performed during the performance. The food at Eastern celebrations is usually Western-style snacks, one for each person, and you can chat with friends while eating. The hosts generally speak Mandarin and English, the performances are mainly for young people, and social dances are held.

This time the Overseas Chinese Federation is organizing the National Day of the United States. From the beginning, it has set a policy to facilitate overseas Chinese from all walks of life and regions to participate, including welcoming friends from other ethnic groups to come. Regarding the choice of location, we changed the past practice of placing it in Down Town mainly for the convenience of Phoenix residents. Instead, we placed the celebration location on the eastern border of Phoenix, so that friends from Tempe, Mesa, and Scossdale can also get there within a 30-40 minute drive. The food is also a combination of Chinese and Western. Of course, hot dogs and hamburgers are indispensable on the National Day of the United States. In addition, Chinese fried noodles and fried rice, as well as Chinese and Western fried anchovies and pulled pork, everyone is full of praise.

The cultural and entertainment programs performed also try to include all kinds of good programs, and adopt an open collection method. Principal Lu Lihua and teacher Wen Linlin from the east, who are experienced in stage organization, are invited to make selections. As a result, a performance full of vitality and national characteristics was presented to people. They are not professional or the most exciting, but they are familiar and favorite to everyone because they are our own. This program includes Cantonese opera tunes and cheongsam shows from the west, as well as folk music ensembles and beautiful folk dances from the prestigious Chinese orchestra in the east; there are senior citizens singing the beautiful America, and there are also children from Hope Chinese Schools rapping faces; people are immersed in the euphemistic and beautiful singing voice of the traditional Peking Opera Princess, which was also inspired by Michael Jackson The wonderful and extremely difficult dance brought into another world; the angels in white from the Chinese Christian Church ended the performance on a high note with their light dance moves. This performance more comprehensively reflected the status of Chinese cultural activities in the Dahuang City area. Everyone observed and communicated with each other and performed together on the same stage, which enhanced friendship and shortened the distance between each other.
