(Contributed by New Oriental Art School) Written by Qiuxiang) On the evening of Saturday, October 18, more than 20 old and new friends gathered at the New Oriental Art School and spent a pleasant tea time with Dr. Chen Pu. The tea-tasting gathering started with a melodious guzheng song called "Fishing Boats Sing Evening". Dr. Chen Pu brought a variety of good teas, brewed them on site, and discussed tea-related knowledge with everyone amidst the scent of tea. Under the guidance of Dr. Chen Pu, the friends tasted the deliciousness of jasmine tea and Dahongpao. While drinking tea, each other also tasted their own homemade snacks.
Some of the friends who came to the scene shared their unique tea drinking experiences, which also left a deep impression on everyone. Dr. Chen Pu talked about his experience many years ago when he visited the top of the mountain where the three mother trees of the Dahongpao tea tree are located in Wuyi Mountain. His description of the surrounding environment of the Dahongpao tea tree in Wuyi Mountain and his experience on the mountain made his friends feel that the tea rolling on their tongues was full of rock flavor. Ms. Sun said that she accidentally tasted good tea once when she was young. She had been searching for it for many years and had countless teas, but she never found the tea flavor in her memory. Some friends also shared the scene of seeing herders making milk tea with fresh milk in a yurt, which aroused their friends' longing for exotic customs.
While enjoying tea, Mr. Chen Zhigang, a well-known music teacher in Phoenix City, brought two ethnic musical instruments, Bawu and Hulusi, and performed them live. Young guzheng teacher Wen Kunlu played "Fishing Boats Sing Evening". Dr. Chen Pu commented that drinking tea is like tasting people. Listening to music, tasting famous tea, and chatting with friends are the joys of life and are extremely comfortable.
Before we say goodbye, friends still have unfinished business and intend to get together again. Dr. Chen Pu suggested that the tea tasting event should be turned into a regular cultural salon to serve the public and make friends with tea. It’s golden autumn and early winter is not far away, so it’s a good time to taste Pu’er tea. The next tea tasting gathering is initially scheduled for mid-November, with Pu'er tea as the theme. Dr. Chen Pu invites everyone to taste the best Pu'er tea in his collection, and will also share the knowledge of Pu'er tea with everyone in detail. I hope more friends can meet with us to have tea and laugh about life.
