(Contributed by Feini Chinese School) On the occasion of the Chinese Lunar New Year, Feini Chinese School used half an hour between classes without affecting normal teaching. On this day, the children in the school attended class as usual. The school invited dumpling-making experts from the Senior Youth Association, Grandma Du, Grandpa Li, Grandma Zhang and Aunt Mu, to make preparations in advance. The parents worked together to make dumplings for the children. Several students from the adult conversation class also actively participated. While making dumplings, they learned the language through the dumpling-making activities. They learned common languages ​​​​such as dumpling dough, rolling out skins, kneading flour, wheat, making dumplings for the New Year, etc. It was very lively. The school directors helped with the celebration. Eric Lai and Ma sent desserts; Youlada sent drinks and utensils; Zhang Huafang sent 100 fried spring rolls and prepared red envelopes for the children. The children have finished class and it’s Chinese New Year! Everyone held bowls of hot dumplings and ate them. Vice-principal Deng Junquan explained the New Year customs to everyone with Chinese New Year pictures he drew himself. Pasting Spring Festival couplets, setting off firecrackers, making dumplings for family reunions, children laughing and playing, paying New Year greetings to adults, giving out red envelopes, etc. The children listened with great interest, and some non-Chinese parents were also very interested. Then, the school director Ma gave each child a red envelope, and the children politely learned to say "Congratulations" and then "Thank you".
