(Overseas Chinese Federation News) On the evening of February 9, Consul General Liu Jian, Consul Yu Xiong, and Consul Ren Zhifang of the Consulate General of the People's Republic of China in Los Angeles held a dinner at the New World Seafood Restaurant to entertain friends from the overseas Chinese community in Phoenix. Representatives from Huazong, Hualian, and the Phoenix Overseas Chinese Federation were present. Consul Yu Xiong gave a warm reminder before the banquet that it is not necessary to wear a tie to attend. Consul General Liu Jian was easy-going and talkative at the table. He said that he came to Arizona to meet with the new governor and discussed various aspects. He said that the governor attaches great importance to relations with China and that the two sides will benefit from each other in their investment. Consul General Liu also mentioned that in order to expand tourism, China can adopt direct charter flights. When talking about Sino-US relations, Consul General Liu said that President Xi Jinping and President Obama talked for eight hours in the United States in 2013, and for ten hours in Beijing, China last year. Returning to the topic of overseas Chinese communities, Consul General Liu said that overseas Chinese communities should do a "down-to-earth" job and serve the grassroots wholeheartedly.
