" Jiu Yang Special" "President Ma's fifth visit to Los Angeles President Ma Ying-jeou of the Republic of China passed through Los Angeles on the 16th. President Ma's trip to Boston to give a speech at Harvard University and Los Angeles to visit the Yonkers Air Museum is the highest courtesy the President of the Republic of China has received from the U.S. government. When President Ma arrived at the Hilton Hotel in Universal City, Los Angeles, on the afternoon of the 16th, more than 300 local overseas Chinese lined the streets to welcome President Ma for his fifth visit to Los Angeles. In the evening, an overseas Chinese banquet was held, and representatives of the overseas Chinese gathered together to share the results of President Ma’s efforts to ensure the security and economy of the Republic of China and return it to the top of the Four Asian Tigers. On the 17th, President Ma and his entourage, including accompanying officials National Security Council Secretary-General Gao Huazhu, Foreign Minister Lin Yongle, Economic Minister Deng Zhenzhong, Chairman of the Overseas Chinese Affairs Commission Chen Shikui, legislators Lu Xuezhang, Zhan Kaichen, Wang Yumin, Li Guimin and others started their trip non-stop. After attending a breakfast meeting of U.S. West Coast dignitaries, President Ma and his convoy, led by U.S. police security, made a special trip to the Yankee Air Museum in Chino, about 50 miles away. More than 200 local overseas Chinese lined the streets to welcome President Ma to San Bernardino County for the first time. President Ma also met with Javitt, a veteran pilot who served in the Flying Tigers during World War II, and thanked him for defending the Republic of China. After returning to the hotel at noon, he attended a luncheon for entrepreneurs of the American Chamber of Commerce. At four o'clock in the afternoon, more than 200 overseas Chinese once again shouted "Come on, President Ma". The overseas Chinese reluctantly shouted "Thank you, President Ma" to see President Ma and his party off the hotel. Immediately after President Ma shook hands with Wu Shangqi, chairman of the Chinese Association of Overseas Chinese Association, and thanked him, President Ma and the overseas Chinese waved to thank them before boarding the car to return to Taiwan. The "Jiu Yang Experts" team has added five burn and scald experts to assist the victims of the Eight Immortals Dust explosion. The experts include Stephen M. Milner, professor of plastic surgery at Johns Hopkins University and director of the Burn and Scald Center, Christina Lynne Catlett, assistant professor at the Johns Hopkins School of Emergency Medicine, Denver Matthew. Ware, Burns and Scald Specialist Nurse Theresa Ann Lynch and others returned to Taiwan with the President's special plane. Eight overseas Chinese leaders from Fucheng, including Yin Yanhuan, Gao Zhizhong, Li Linglin, Wang Ruijin, Qiu Shunxiong, Zhang Shengyi, Zhang Huimei, and Qiu Wenqi, were invited to attend the presidential dinner on July 16. Yin Yanhuan was specially arranged to head the table by the conference, adjacent to Bo Ruiguang, and there was a lot of interaction during the dinner.
