Ten thousand chickens are crowing, and the whole world is covered with brocade; a night of wind brings spring everywhere.

>Alberta Modern and Hope, two of the largest Chinese schools in the region, collaborated for the first time to hold a New Year party in the Year of the Monkey. On the occasion of the New Year in 2017, the two schools collaborated again and jointly held a New Year party in the Year of the Rooster.

Both Modern Chinese School and Hope Chinese School have more than 20 years of experience in running schools, and have both been selected as "Chinese Education Normal Schools" by the Overseas Chinese Affairs Office of the State Council. The second New Year party jointly organized by the two schools has been eagerly awaited by the local Chinese. At about 11 o'clock in the morning on January 28, Chandler Tumbleweed Park was almost full of cars. Parents and children were all dressed in costumes. The brightly colored Tang suit and Hanfu cheongsam complemented the red lanterns hanging around, the red "福" and the red "春" characters. Before the party officially started, the children held up yellow dragons and danced through the activity hall, creating a traditional Chinese New Year atmosphere.

This year, the two schools specially invited domestic folk artists, including dough makers, sugar paintings, and artistic marshmallows, which attracted many children. The children watched intently as the dough kneader casually picked up bits of colorful dough, kneaded, kneaded, kneaded and rolled it in his hands, then dexterously cut, carved, scratched, shaped the body, hands, head and face with a small bamboo knife, and put on hair accessories and clothes. In an instant, various artistic images such as Sun Wukong, Zhu Bajie, fairies, red pandas, and white rabbits were formed. I saw the sugar painting master using a small spoon to scoop out a spoonful of hot sugar syrup and draw on the plate. The sugar syrup changed from hot to cold, and various sugar paintings were made, including chickens, monkeys, rabbits, swallows, butterflies and dragons, which were really cute. In the past, these exquisite folk crafts could only be seen at domestic Spring Festival temple fairs, but today they were in full bloom at our party, arousing everyone's interest and curiosity. There was also a teacher who taught the children how to hand-make the God of Wealth, Golden Ingot and Golden Rooster pendants on site. These pendants were beautiful and cute, attracting many children to learn handcrafting around the teacher. They also gave the pendants they made to their family and friends, adding a bit of peace and joy! Calligrapher Mr. Chen Pu took his children to hang up their calligraphy works early, and the parents looked up to watch them. Volunteers were cutting red paper aside, and children who loved calligraphy helped grind it. The ink was fragrant in the wind, and the pens were dancing to welcome the spring. The words "Fu", "Shou" and "Spring" instantly reflected the ground red...

At 12 o'clock in the morning, the New Year Party of the Year of the Rooster officially started. The party was hosted by Zhao Caihong of Hope Chinese School. Mr. Xi Wenjun, Chairman of Modern Chinese School, and Ms. Wang Yulan, Principal of Modern Chinese School, Mr. Li Jian, Chairman of Hope Chinese School, and Ms. Liu Yajing, Acting Principal of Hope Chinese School, jointly delivered speeches to extend holiday blessings to the more than 800 parents and children who attended the party, and wish everyone a happy New Year! Mr. Wang Xuezheng, the leader of the Overseas Chinese Affairs Section of the Chinese Consulate General in Los Angeles, who was invited to attend the conference from Los Angeles, emphasized in his speech that this is his second time attending on behalf of the Chinese Consulate General in Los Angeles. He was very happy to see the support and participation of so many teachers, students, and parents. Fully affirming the important role played by the two Chinese schools, Modern and Hope, in the Chinese community in Arizona. Inheriting and promoting Chinese culture through various methods such as Chinese teaching, food promotion, and holding traditional festival celebrations, it has demonstrated the cultural charm and cultural confidence of the Chinese nation, and won the recognition and respect of all local ethnic groups. He also wished the two schools could work together in the new year to inherit Chinese culture and better serve the community. At the meeting, the two schools performed entertainment programs, including cheerful waist drums, melodious guzheng, vigorous chorus, and children's traditional Chinese costume performances... The tug-of-war competition pushed the party to a climax. At the meeting, the children happily received red envelopes and gifts, and a lottery was held, bringing endless joy to everyone.

The party is over. What cannot be forgotten in people's hearts for a long time are not only the various wonderful traditional Chinese activities, but also the busy figures of dozens of volunteers. Let us express our sincere gratitude and send a sincere blessing to them for their hard work! Let’s meet again next year!
