(Newsletter of the Alberta Chinese Restaurant Association) On February 4th, the Alberta Chinese Restaurant Association held a Chinese Restaurant Poverty Relief Activity for the Year of the Rooster at the CASS Government Charity Relief Center. Together with the association’s board members, dozens of volunteers participated, allowing hundreds of street residents to feel love and get food and clothing. This is an annual charity event for Chinese restaurants in Alberta. It has been held for many years. The owners and employees of the Chinese restaurants all took time out of their busy schedules to participate in this very meaningful event.
The directors of the Chinese Restaurant Association have been preparing for this event for some time. The restaurant association directors and volunteers came to set up the venue early in the morning. Deng Chaoju, chairman of the Restaurant Association, also invited a Chinese lion dance and a Western band to entertain, adding to the atmosphere of the event. In addition to the food prepared by the Chinese restaurant, bottles of soda drinks donated by Pepsi-Cola are fully prepared. Among the volunteers were not only young people, but also students. Come and participate in meaningful activities.
The battle array has been set, with love and food on the stage. The line of people has been lined up for a long time, there are street people around the corner, street people are also dotted on the grass, waiting in small groups. The meal distribution activity began. The volunteers put beef, sweet and sour chicken, broccoli, spring rolls, white rice, etc. on plates and distributed them to the street residents, along with bottled water one by one. The director of the Chinese restaurant weaved in and out of the crowd, hand-delivering plates filled with delicacies to the guests. Street residents received warmth in the Chinese New Year through the charity sending activities organized by CASS Charity Center and the Chinese Restaurant Association. As the Year of the Rooster approaches, people who do good deeds are extremely happy. The Chinese Restaurant Association of Alberta and street residents spent a warm day.
