Allison Z. Zhen
Allison Z. Chen, a Chinese from Hamilton High School, won this year's Presidential Scholar Award. She not only has academic performance, but also has outstanding performance in various social activities. Allison Z. Zhen was also admitted to Yale University at the same time. Only two students from Arizona received this honor this year.
Education Secretary Betsy DeVos congratulated the winners and their mentors. She said, "Today's Presidential Scholars are tomorrow's leaders. I believe they will continue to be shining examples as they enter the next stage of study." A total of 5,100 graduating high school students have obtained the first-level qualifications for their academic achievements. 161 Presidential Scholar Award winners and a teacher selected by them will go to the White House on June 18 to receive the award.
Ella Belle Wang's wonderful performance in the 2017 Alberta Spring Festival Gala
Ella Belle Wang won the first place in the International Grande Music Competition (13-15 years old) age group. This year at the Alberta Symphony Orchestra, she won the Leadership Hope Award, the highest award. Her band Sunshine also won an award at the just-concluded Arizona Music Festival. She not only shows her outstanding artistic talent in music, but also brings her expertise and love to ordinary people. She uses her spare time, and even important family holidays, to go to communities and hospitals to use music to bring hope and confidence in life to more people.
Karina Yang
Karina Yang won the best work award in the Congressional Art Contest. Her paintings will be treasured in Washington DC. Karina was invited to Washington DC this summer together with Congressman Andy Biggs.
>Karina Yang is also versatile. She has studied Chinese folk dance for many years at the Art Institute of Alberta, inheriting Chinese culture and facing world challenges.
