(Contributed by the Organizing Committee to Celebrate the 20th Anniversary of Hong Kong's Return) 2017 is the 20th anniversary of Hong Kong's Return, local time in the United States in June On the evening of the 17th, a symposium to celebrate the 20th anniversary of Hong Kong's return to China was held in Phoenix, co-organized by the Arizona Chinese Association (ACA), the Arizona Chinese Association (ACUA) and the overseas Chinese community in the greater Phoenix area. More than 60 people attended the symposium, including Consul Wang Xuezheng and Consul Chen Xiaoyi, leaders of the Overseas Chinese Affairs Section of the Chinese Consulate General in Los Angeles, representatives of overseas Chinese delegations in Arizona, representatives of overseas Chinese from Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan, and American friends.

The symposium was hosted by Arizona Chinese Federation President Yuan Yahua, Chairman Yang Wentian, Honorary President Xu Qiang, Arizona Chinese Federation President Wu Ning, Chairman Wu Liangzu , Li Jiang, President of the Phoenix Branch (Science and Engineering Professionals) of the Association of Scientists and Engineers in the United States (Science and Engineering), and Li Yu, the Chairman, co-convened the symposium. Yuan Yahua, President of the Chinese Federation, and Sun Ying, Dean of the Curriculum Department of the School of Management of the University of Phoenix, co-chaired the symposium.

In his speech, Consul Wang Xuezheng reviewed the history of China's successful settlement of the Hong Kong issue through diplomatic negotiations and the return of Hong Kong, stressing that the central government will unswervingly implement the "one country, two systems" policy and the Basic Law, and will not waver, deform, or He will not be out of shape, unswervingly support Hong Kong in promoting democratic development in accordance with the law, unswervingly safeguard Hong Kong's long-term prosperity and stability, and strictly follow the framework of the Constitution and Basic Law to develop Hong Kong's political system, progress in the rule of law, and achieve social change. He fully affirmed the overseas Chinese in Arizona in participating in Sino-US cultural exchanges , promote exchanges and exchanges between Hong Kong and the United States, and have played an active role in opposing Hong Kong independence, supporting one country, two systems, Hong Kong people governing Hong Kong, a high degree of autonomy, and promoting the reunification of the motherland. The convener of the symposium, Yang Wentian, on behalf of the Preparatory Committee, elaborated in his speech on behalf of the Preparatory Committee that the central government's successful implementation of "one country, two systems" in Hong Kong has special significance for the motherland to complete the great cause of reunification. In the past 20 years since Hong Kong's return to the motherland, Hong Kong has witnessed political and economic changes. Hong Kong has made remarkable achievements in areas such as health and people's livelihood. In June this year, Hong Kong continued to rank first among the world's most competitive economies. The central government and Hong Kong are jointly committed to Hong Kong's prosperity and stability under the "one country, two systems" framework. The central government has always been Hong Kong's strongest backer, attaches great importance to Hong Kong's important position and role in the overall development of the country, and remains unswervingly consistent with the motherland on important issues of safeguarding the country's core interests.
