—— Remember the modern Chinese school in Alberta Report on participating in the 2018 Chinese Orchestra Spring Festival Gala
(Alberta Modern Chinese School News) Say goodbye to the old year with joy and joy, and happily gather together to celebrate the new year. At the beginning of the Lunar New Year, our school was invited by the Phoenix Chinese Orchestra to perform at the local Chinese annual Spring Festival Gala.
At 7:00 pm on the second day of the Lunar New Year, the Phoenix Chinese Orchestra’s Spring Festival Gala kicked off at the Tempe Center for the Arts. What excited the audience was that the children's choir and school band of the Alberta Modern Chinese School presented the first program of the Spring Festival Gala! The dazzling stage and the unique opening performance made the audience burst into applause! The students who participated in the children's chorus and recitation performances, especially the girls, were dressed in bright red tops with two ponytails tied with bright red ribbons, looking extremely festive and auspicious! The opening poem recited "New Year is here, set off firecrackers, the crackling is really lively." The six cute little students' voices were clear and loud, and they spoke fluent standard Mandarin, which highlighted the first-class standard our Chinese school maintains in overseas Chinese education! Then more than a dozen primary school students and an adult choir sang the song "The North Wind Blows", which is a household name among Chinese at home and abroad and one of the top ten classics of Chinese music in the 20th century. The adapted music, under the passionate performance of our school band, the tender and clear children's voices and the clear and elegant throats of the adult chorus responded like a fishing boat singing at night.
As the backbone of Chinese community activities in Alberta, Modern Chinese Schools and mainstream groups in the Chinese community, especially art groups such as the Chinese Orchestra, have long maintained a friendly relationship of co-construction and mutual assistance. Participating in this performance not only showcases the results of our Chinese teaching to the entire community, but also helps students deeply understand the Chinese New Year culture. At the same time, it also actively promotes traditional Asian culture with other local Chinese groups!
>Thanks to Chairman Tao Shicheng and Principal Wang Yulan of the Alberta Modern Chinese School for their strong support, as well as Vice Principal Tian Shaowei and teachers Gao Jingjing and Lu Lihua of the performance organizing committee for their careful organization! Thanks to Director Miao Yuliang of the Chinese Orchestra for the kind invitation. Thank you to all parents and volunteers for your enthusiastic participation! Thank you to everyone who participated in the reading and choir! Thank you to teacher Cai Shangao and all the band members, as well as our photographer!
Send a blessing and a greeting! I wish our Chinese school and Chinese community another prosperous year! (Written by Gao Jingjing; Photographed by Zhao Tao)
