Intel is building a $300 million research and development center in Chandler Gold Letter Real Estate News Intel is investing in a new $300 million research and development center in Chandler, which will employ hundreds of highly skilled workers. State and local officials said the microchip makers demonstrated in the project remain committed to expanding their investments in the Phoenix area. Construction of the 285,000-square-foot research center will begin soon. The project is located at the northwest corner of Rural Road and Chandler Boulevard. Nearly 1,000 workers will be employed during the construction phase, which is expected to be completed in the second half of 2013, Intel officials said. In addition, Intel Semiconductor Chip PC Server invested 5.2 billion to establish a chip production line in Chandler. The factory, called Fab 42, will be completed in 2013 and will produce the world's highest-volume chips. Intel officials said the plant will create more high-paying jobs, as well as more technical jobs. Fab 42 needs nearly a thousand new employees. Sandra Johnson, CEO of the Arizona Business Administration, said in a statement Tuesday that Terr's expansion announcement today is a testament to Arizona's increasingly competitive business climate and that they, along with Chandler city officials, are committed to pro-business policies that will serve as a catalyst for economic growth.
