In mid-summer July, the global finals of the 2021-2022 International Taoli Cup Dance Competition came to a perfect conclusion. Four solo dances and one group dance from the Art Institute of Alberta returned triumphantly in the finals and won the Special Judges Award, the Top Ten Platinum Award and the Platinum Award respectively. In addition, the organizing committee also awarded teacher Qiu Xiaorong of our school the Taoli Manyuan Award for his contribution to the spread of dance culture.
This year's National Peach Cup adopts a simultaneous online and offline competition mode. Players from North America, Asia and Europe participated in this dance event. Those who can advance to the annual finals through the selection process in winter, spring and summer are all dances of a very high standard. Under fierce competition, the group dance "Singing the Spring Rain" by the Alberta College of Art, Sabrina Zhao's "Dream Clothes" and Sevrina Bunch's "Desert Red Willow" won the platinum award. The success of the Taoli Cup came from California on the west coast, and the news of our school’s dancer Audrey came from Florida on the east coast. Good news for Zhang. She won first place in the junior category and second overall in the 15-19-year-old junior category at the Starpower National Competition in Orlando, and received a $1,000 scholarship. In the Showstopper national competition, she challenged the senior group and won the first place in the group and the fifth overall score in the 15-19 senior group, and won the double platinum 1st place. Not only did she shine on the stage, she also showed the charm of Chinese dance to audiences of all ethnic groups. Let us congratulate the winning dancers and applaud these cultural ambassadors!
