The 2017 Arizona Chinese Teacher Training, hosted by the Phoenix Contact Center of the National Association of Chinese Schools and hosted by the Alberta Modern Chinese School and Hope Chinese School, was grandly held on August 12 at the ASU ART Building.
>Teachers from many Chinese schools such as Alberta Modern Chinese School, Hope Chinese School, Phoenix Chinese School, Zusun Chinese School, Greater Phoenix Area Christian Chinese School, etc. gathered together. The venue was solemn and warm, filled with the high learning enthusiasm of teachers who are working on the front line of teaching, reflecting the great prospects of overseas Chinese education that continues to flourish and thrive.
Before the speech began, Ms. Shuai Zhiruo, former president of the National Association of Chinese Schools and current president of the National Association of Chinese Schools Foundation, introduced the principals of each Chinese school. Chairman: Wang Yulan, principal of Modern Chinese School, Tian Lin, principal of Hope Chinese School, chairman Li Jian, Peng Xinli, principal of Phoenix Christian Church Chinese School, Cao Peiqin, principal of Zusun Chinese School, Cheng Xiuling, principal of Phoenix Chinese School, etc.
Teacher Shuai Zhiruo especially commended Modern Chinese School and Hope Chinese School for their extensive organizational preparations for this teacher training. The leaders of the two schools devoted a lot of energy to this event, worked hard and worked together to ensure the smooth progress of today's event. The teachers warmly applauded these hard-working school leadership volunteers and thanked them for giving everyone a rare learning opportunity and thoughtful service.
This teacher training is different from the past in that it is delivered by a local Chinese teacher for the first time. It is very down-to-earth and based on the needs of local teachers, specific teaching issues and the situation of our local students, giving teachers of various Chinese schools a lively, effective and beneficial learning and exchange opportunity.
The first lecturer is Mr. Jie Zhu, who has taught in Chinese schools such as Modern and Hope for many years and is currently a lecturer in the ASU Chinese Navigation Program.
Professional teacher qualifications and experienced teaching career. Mr. Zhu captured a very exciting speech topic, "What to teach and how to teach", which is a question that every Chinese teacher of ours has always thought about and constantly discussed.
> Teacher Zhu first told the teachers to understand the students’ origins, their family’s Chinese background, and their acceptance level. Teachers need to prepare lessons carefully and fully prepared, and teach in a way that interests students. Years of teaching experience enable Teacher Zhu to use text examples from textbooks that teachers are familiar with (such as the "Robot F" lesson that many teachers have taught), allowing teachers to understand and learn Teacher Zhu's teaching methods more intimately and concretely. Many lively and interesting teaching methods, classroom management, multimedia applications, etc. are introduced. Her speech was vivid, witty and fascinating, and the venue burst into warm applause from time to time.
The second speech teacher is Mr. Zhou zhou He. Mr. He also teaches at Basis and Hope Chinese School. Teacher He, a professional teacher, is our role model for her professionalism. She has devoted her love for education to teaching work. A lot of exploration and practice have enabled her to tell us about the modern teaching methods that teachers in the current high-tech society most want to understand and master. The title is: "Technology Application in Chinese Classroom". Teacher He used a vivid 21st century classroom setting diagram to describe the necessity of using technology in Chinese classes, describing and demonstrating Quizlet, seesaw, edpuzzle, and Classdojo in detail. The classroom application and effects of Plicker, and other technologies, and the teaching materials produced by Teacher He who used these technologies were played live. Everyone was refreshed and suddenly realized that the ubiquitous mobile phones that students are most interested in can be used to help them learn Chinese, which greatly stimulated the children's enthusiasm and enthusiasm for learning. Teacher He also recommended some websites that she has used in practice to the teachers on the spot. We see that the development of science and modern tools have great power in promoting and improving our Chinese education.
The last person to give a speech was Nanyun Tang, a teacher from Modern Chinese School. Teacher Tang has taught Chinese AP classes for many years. As a senior Chinese teacher, Teacher Tang combined his many years of teaching experience to talk about "Integrated Teaching of Language and Culture".
First, Teacher Tang proposed the abstract and specific definitions of culture, and then from different perspectives such as dialects and the evolution of Chinese characters, he described how students can learn more about the long-standing, extensive and profound Chinese culture in teaching. Teacher Tang demonstrated the representative Chinese culture teaching pictures that he made to assist teaching, which were vivid, intuitive and interesting. For example: Chinese food culture and historical pictures such as the Anti-Japanese War displayed to combine with the text. In the teaching for senior students, we continue to learn from the development and historical evolution of Chinese culture, and gradually have a splendid culture. China stands in the east of the world with rich and colorful cultural elements and national cultural education. It lays a solid foundation for students to take the AP exam, allowing students to establish firm confidence in learning Chinese well and getting excellent results in the AP exam.
The speeches of the three teachers deeply shocked every teacher present. As teachers who sow knowledge and hope, and as messengers to spread Chinese culture, the teachers are well aware of the great responsibility and the lofty mission. The teachers continue to learn and explore, with only one common purpose, to teach Chinese well, live up to their mission and the trust of students, and contribute to the inheritance and promotion of Chinese culture.
Several hours of the meeting passed quickly. It was 7 o'clock in the evening. The time to rent the venue had come. The teachers could only reluctantly discuss and leave. This kind of lecture was so beneficial. I would like to thank the organizer and the host school for giving everyone the learning opportunity. I look forward to the next time.
