Glendale won the right to host the 2015 Super Cup. The National Football League announced in Houston on the 11th that it would award the Phoenix area the right to host the 2015 Super Bowl 49. This will be the third time Glendale has hosted the Super Bowl. In the 1996 NFL game, Dallas defeated Pittsburgh, 27:17. In 2008, the Giants defeated the Patriots at the University of Phoenix Stadium, 17:14. Phoenix was the Tampa area that defeated Florida in the second round of voting. Tampa has hosted the tournament in 1984, 1991, 2001 and 2009. Next year's games are in Indianapolis, 2013 in New Orleans, and 2014 in the New York/New Jersey area. The 2008 Super Bowl brought an additional $5 million in revenue to the state. Since the enactment of SB1040 in this state, many civil rights activists, especially Mexicans, have proposed boycotting Arizona and opposing the state's right to host the Super Bowl.
