November 11th Hokitika - Fox Glacier Town - Wanaka Lake Town Wanaka
After breakfast, load the car and leave the hotel at 7:45, and visit and shop at a jade shop in the town. New Zealand produces a kind of green nephrite. They process the jade into patterns that the local Maori people pray for, and make it into necklaces and other jewelry. It is different from the luxury of Chinese jade, but it has the roughness of nature and a unique flavor.
After leaving the town, we walked along the west coast to see the famous Fox Glacier. Due to New Zealand's special location and landform, glaciers can form at such low latitudes, which is a wonder in the world. Along the way, there is pastoral scenery, with large stretches of pasture, large herds of sheep, cattle, horses, and deer filling the pasture, and the continuous snow-capped mountains in the distance, which is a beautiful natural scenery. It's a pity that God is not kind, sometimes it is cloudy, sometimes it rains, and occasionally the sun shines. Pass through Westland National Park and reach the location of the glacier. When the weather is good, you can take a helicopter to admire the entire glacier from the air, which is truly spectacular. Helicopters will also land on the glacier, allowing you to get up close and personal with the glacier. Unfortunately, the weather was bad and the helicopter stopped, so we could only stand in the distance and look at the glacier. But the weather was very cloudy, and the glacier was hidden in the clouds and fog and could not be seen clearly. Due to time constraints, we could not wait any longer, so we had to go back to the car sadly. When we were about to set off, someone suddenly pointed over there and said, '?#20986;Here we come! Out! ?All the people in the car ran out of the car and looked in the direction of the glacier - right? The sky opened up a little and the faint blue glacier was exposed. Finally, we took a look, and our trip was not in vain.
At noon, we ate at a tasteful Western restaurant we passed on the way. We had salad and Fish & Chips, which tasted good. This restaurant not only does great food, but also has a unique environment. The restaurant's backyard is a large pasture that leads to the rolling hills in the distance. A large herd of cattle of various colors and breeds are raised on the pasture. Customers can enjoy New Zealand's unique and original pastoral scenery while dining through the floor-to-ceiling glass windows facing the pasture. After the meal, many travelers ran to the back to have close contact with the cattle and take photos.
In the evening we arrived at Wanaka, the fourth largest lake in New Zealand, and stayed at the Wanaka Hotel in the lakeside town. Going out from the back door of the room is a large green grassland, and you can see the snow-covered mountains in the distance. The scenery is very beautiful. After settling in, the tour guide took us on foot through the town and to a restaurant not far away for dinner. Dinner is pizza, fish, chips and mushroom egg soup. The owner seems to be Chinese. Afraid that some people might not be used to it, Lawson personally cooked fried rice for us. After dinner, we quickly took the time to go to the lake opposite the hotel to enjoy the beautiful scenery before the sun went down. This is a lakeside park. The snow-capped mountains are particularly beautiful under the setting sun. The afterglow of the sun reflects wonderful colors on the snow-capped mountains. The tranquil lake has reflections of the snow-capped mountains, and there are also small boats quietly leaning on the lake, creating a poetic and picturesque atmosphere. As dusk fell, my attention was attracted by a group of wild ducks that had just landed. I saw the mother duck leading a group of alternating yellow and brown ducklings, more than a dozen of them, swaying ashore and walking towards the depths of the grass. Behind them was a male duck with beautiful feathers, undoubtedly the father duck - it must be time to return to the nest. Looking at this happy family and the fairyland-like lakes and mountains in front of me, I can only deeply admire: Nature is so beautiful!
