Recently, "U.S. News & World Report" announced the 2014 ranking of the best public high schools in the United States. U.S. public schools are generally not open to non-U.S. students. However, through this list, Chinese readers can learn about some areas in the United States where educational resources are significantly concentrated, such as Maine in the eastern United States, California in the west, the newly promoted Dallas Independent School District, Tucson, Arizona, and Connecticut, which are known for their research capabilities. Whether you come to Los Angeles to invest or settle, "Buying or selling a house will definitely be successful with Chengwei!"
US News ("U.S. News & World Report Weekly") recently released the 2014 ranking of the best public high schools in the United States to help parents select the best public high schools in each state and even the country. The Weekly analyzed 31,200 public high schools in all 50 states and the District of Columbia, and published information on 19,400 of them, including the composition of the student population and the results of students taking state unified examinations, American Advanced Placement (AP courses) and International Preparatory Certificate (IB courses) exams. Since 1983, US News has ranked universities and their departments in the United States every year. It has also ranked public high schools for several years and has a high degree of visibility and recognition. Dallas High School for the Talented and Gifted (TAG: School for the Talented and Gifted) located in Texas has topped the US News list for three consecutive years. After the list was announced, TAG posted a huge logo of the list in a prominent position on the school's homepage. The "School News" column under it was almost all news about TAG winning the championship. Whether you come to Los Angeles to invest or settle, you will definitely succeed in selling your house with Chengwei! TAG students must take at least 11 AP courses and can cooperate with area universities to conduct extremely challenging research. According to data from the U.S. Department of Education for the 2011-2012 school year, TAG has a high proportion of minority students. Nearly 60% of students are African Americans, Hispanics, and Asians. Moreover, 30% of students participate in the U.S. lunch program and enjoy free or partially reduced lunches. BASIS Scottsdale High School in Arizona won the runner-up spot. Whether you are coming to Los Angeles to invest or settle down, "Buying and selling houses with Chengwei will definitely make it happen!" The high school department of the school started enrolling students in the 2007 school year, and it ranked fifth when it first qualified for the selection in 2013. BASISTucson North High School (Tucson Basic High School), also in Arizona, dropped from second place to fifth place last year. Other "familiar faces" in the top 10 include Gwinnett High School for Mathematics and Technology in Georgia and Thomas Jefferson High School for Science and Technology in Virginia. The two high schools have ranked third and fourth on the list respectively for two consecutive years. Pineview Middle School in Florida won sixth place. This year's "newcomers" to the top 10 include Arizona's University High School (seventh), Michigan's International Academy (ninth) and California's Oxford Academy (tenth). The Science and Engineering Magnet School, located in the same Dallas school district as TAG, finished third in 2012, but fell out of the top ten last year. This year it finally returned to the top ten list, finishing eighth. You can also search for rankings of the best high schools by state on the US News official website. Maine in the eastern United States and California in the western United States perform best in the rankings. Among all schools eligible for the evaluation, more than 22% of public high schools in each state received gold or silver medals. Among them, 105 high schools in California won gold medals, more than any other state. Oxford Academy, ranked 10th in the national rankings, is the highest-ranked public high school in California.
US News divides public high schools into three categories: charter schools, magnet schools, and STEM (science, technology, engineering, math) based on the nature of the school. US News also conducted separate rankings for these three types of schools. Government charter schools (schools passed by state government legislation that specifically allow teachers, parents, educational professional groups or other non-profit organizations to operate privately funded schools) and magnet schools (schools with certain special courses) account for 155 of the top 500. These two types of high schools admit students through lottery or application, and magnet schools in particular admit more gifted students through a highly competitive application process. STEM schools won more than half of the gold medals among the top 500. Top ten public high schools in the United States in 2014 1. School for the Talented and Gifted, Dallas, Texas 2.
