At 1:30 pm on September 21, the 2014 China-US Forum hosted by the Confucius Institute at Arizona State University was grandly held in the MU Turquoise Conference Hall on the Tempe campus of Arizona State University. This forum is part of the Mid-Autumn Festival celebration held in the MU Arizona Ballroom from 4 to 6 p.m. Representatives from the Consulate General of the People's Republic of China in Los Angeles, Arizona government officials and local community leaders attended the ceremony.

At this forum, Joe, the director of the Confucius Institute and the School of International Languages and Literatures at Arizona State University Dr. Cutter explained that the Confucius Institute at Arizona State University is characterized by its academic capabilities and the organization of special activities such as the China-US Forum. He introduced the special speaker of this forum, Deputy Consul General Sun Lushan from the Chinese Consulate General in Los Angeles, and delivered a welcome speech.

Mr. Jeff Wu, executive marketing president of Pactera, titled "The Road to Globalization - The Story of Pactera" brought a successful conclusion to this China-US Forum. As the largest IT services company based in China, Pactera has more than 22,000 professionals providing world-class business/IT consulting, solutions and outsourcing services to its global customers. In 2013, Pactera's lightning-fast rise in China's banking solutions market was not only a dazzling development in the industry, but also made it the second largest local company, further making it the third largest supplier in China's banking IT solutions market. Jeff Wu pointed out: "Internationalization is looking for new markets, new technologies and cost efficiencies, and IT service companies are the backbone of these themes." The audience got a good feel for his unique perspective on acquisitions and market globalization coupled with over 20 years of IT market expertise.

Ms. Emily Tadano, Vice President of Najafi Company, and Mr. Daniel Shum, Partner and Vice President of the company, interpreted all aspects of cooperation in China through long-term investment in the Chinese media space market. Najafi is an international private investment institution headquartered in Phoenix, Arizona, with branches in Los Angeles, New York, Paris, Toronto, London and other places. It has businesses including consumer, media, applied science, industrial and real estate in seven countries around the world. The speech titled "China Opportunities: Cultural Products and Media Industry" revealed the rapidly developing Chinese entertainment market and huge business opportunities in the media space; it also outlined the exciting scene of Hollywood pursuing Chinese consumers in a climate where China is actively promoting Chinese culture abroad.

Mr. Randal Schulhauser, senior R&D officer of Medtronic Co., Ltd., presented to the audience a brief history of Medtronic in North America and its development experience in China over the past four decades. In the past eighteen years, Medtronic's operations in China are no less than a photo album of how top international companies like Medtronic can find any expansion opportunities in the diversity and depending on the way of cooperation between China and the world. Randal holds 4 patents with the U.S. Patent Office and 6 patents pending. The passionate speeches, valuable perspectives and in-depth analysis of the seminars by outstanding speakers have aroused great enthusiasm and in-depth understanding of the Chinese market in the process of globalization. In order to show respect to the five speakers, the Confucius Institute held a China-US Forum luncheon for important guests and speakers. Other guests included Phoenix Sister City President Paula West, City of Phoenix Economic Development Director Christine Mackay, Uhaul Vice President Allen Yang, Growth Nation CEO Doug Bruhnke, and Medtronic Dave Cano.
