A large number of new hundred-dollar bills have been stolen and are expected to be issued in 2013. The FBI recently revealed that a "large number" of newly designed $100 bills were stolen by thieves on their way to the Federal Reserve's storage location in New Jersey. The bills were transported from Dallas to the Philadelphia airport around 10:20 a.m. on Thursday, and then arrived at the Federal Reserve's storage location in New Jersey around 2 p.m. The company responsible for transporting the bills reported to authorities that some of the bills were missing. It is believed that the bills were stolen after arriving at the Philadelphia airport. Burton declined to comment on the value of the stolen bills, but said the number was large. The stolen bills were newly designed $100 bills that were not expected to be in circulation until next year. The new design bills have a large gold 100 pattern on the back and an orange square with a faint Liberty Bell inside.
