2013 Arizona Chinese New Year Cultural Feast—Alberta Spring Festival Gala (Alberta Times reported silently) Colorful silks, flowers, lanterns, in the shining Chinese red, more than 90 dancers kicked off the 2013 Arizona Spring Festival Gala with the group dance "Dance of the Golden Snake" on the stage of the Chandler Center. Chandler Mayor Jay Tibshraeny, senior overseas Chinese leader Yu Wenjin, former White House Asian and Pacific American Affairs Committee member Deng Chaoju, former House of Representatives Huang Shijun, Director of the Confucius Institute at Arizona State University Madeline Spring, MESA Community College President Pan Shou'an, Greater Phoenix Chinese Overseas Chinese Association President Zhang Huafang, and Arizona Chinese Federation President Fei Jian came to celebrate the Chinese New Year. Lv Lihua, the director of the organizer New Oriental Art School, and Marilyn, the director of the Confucius Institute, expressed their New Year congratulations to the Chinese people in Alberta, and also thanked all sectors of the community for their strong support in spreading Chinese culture! After half a year of preparations, a strong performance lineup of more than 230 people, including students from New Oriental Art School, senior artists from various literary and art groups in Alberta, and the Chandler Children's Choir, presented a high-quality, high-grade, New Year's-style party to the 1,500 spectators present. The program of the party is mainly singing and dancing, interspersed with martial arts, qigong, solo singing, chorus, as well as violin, erhu and other instrumental music performances. The classical dance "Flying Apsara" performed by New Oriental Art School is graceful, agile and elegant, as if the legend of Flying Apsara from Dunhuang Mogao Grottoes is reappearing. The classic dance "Kite" releases overseas Chinese's longing for their hometown! Chandler Children's Choir, the blond children sang the Chinese song "Happy Spring" to pray for the New Year. Dance, singing, and Shaolin Kung Fu. Master Yan Qing's Qigong can instantly shatter an iron rod and shock the entire audience. The most distinctive show of the whole show is the comic dance tracker's love. Last year, these actors made their debut in Phoenix with "Swan Lake". This year the number of male actors has increased to six. They pulled the rope and walked out of the stage as trackers. When the music sang "Little sister, sit on the bow, brother, you walk on the shore", the six trackers turned around and turned into six charming little sisters. The whole audience burst into laughter! In "Tracker's Love", one actor plays two roles, and the performance is very expressive and lifelike. I cannot but praise the director's unique design. With singing, laughter and blessings, the 2013 Arizona Spring Festival Gala came to a successful conclusion. Chinese people here let go of their New Year’s dreams and blessings: “I wish the Chinese in Alberta a happy New Year and all the best!” For more details, please see: Photo News: Alberta Spring Festival Gala, Year of the Snake Feast, Oriental Art, wonderful presentations
