Six companies in the East Valley are listed on the Fortune 500 in 2012 "Fortune" magazine recently released a list of the top 500 companies in the United States. Exxon Mobil, the oil giant that ranked second last year, beat the pack with revenue of US$452.926 billion, regaining the top spot that Walmart had occupied for two years. Wal-Mart ranked second with US$446.95 billion. Arizona has six companies on the list, all of which are headquartered in the East Valley. The six companies include: US Airways, which is headquartered in Tempe and is rumored to be acquired, ranked 208, Insight Enterprises (also headquartered in Tempe), ranked 460, and others include: Avnet (108), Freeport-McMoRan Copper and Gold (135), Republic Services (314), and Pet Stores (400). Some companies on the list that are not headquartered in the state but have facilities in the East Valley include: Boeing (39, Mesa), Intel (51, Chandler), Spirit (60, Tempe), Penske Automotive Group (222, Tempe), eBay (228, Chandler), etc. Retail giants Walmart (2) and Bank of America (13), Chase Bank (16) and Wells Fargo (26) also have branches in the East Valley.
