> Hope Chinese School Student Union Election 2012 School Year (Contributed by Hope Chinese School) On November 17, 2012, students of Hope Chinese School ushered in another student union election. This election is already the seventh. With the efforts of the student union members in the past six years, the school's student union activities have been successfully organized. Of course, the student union elections have also attracted more students to join. On the day of the election, the school’s largest lecture theater was packed with people. Students in fifth grade and above gathered here, gearing up to cast their solemn and sacred vote. After the election instructor Wu Tao briefly explained the election process and voting rules, each candidate took the stage and delivered his or her speech. I vaguely remember the elections in the first and second years. The students’ campaign speeches were still so raw and immature. Now, looking around, I can see that every candidate is dressed up. The boys are wearing shirts and ties, and the girls are wearing suits or beautiful skirts. Candidates who can’t make it to the scene because they are busy with other things have sent pre-recorded speech videos, which shows how seriously they attach importance to their candidacy. They brought their carefully crafted campaign posters, stating their intention to run, their abilities and intentions, and what they could do for everyone if the campaign was successful. Each candidate has a calm voice, as if chatting with everyone; some are full of passion and have the style of a politician. The cheers echoed in the auditorium again and again. Many candidates admitted that they came to run for office because they were influenced by previous members and entered the "political arena." Indeed, members of the previous student unions not only assisted the school in managing daily school affairs, maintaining school order, and cleaning the school environment, they also actively organized school sports meets and raised donations for disaster areas in various places. Their actions deeply moved and affected the students around them, so more and more people decided to devote themselves to the work of the student union. After all the candidates gave their speeches, every voter present thought carefully, weighed for a long time, and then checked the candidate in their mind. The final results of this election are as follows: President of HCSSC: Michael Wu Vice President HCSSC: Lisa Zou President of Elementary Student Society: David Wu Secretary: Simon Zeng Treasurer: Hannah Li Webmaster of Student Council: Azalea Phan President of Student Sports Club: Jeffrey Liu President of Student Art and Music Club: Allison Chen President of Student Chinese Education Club: Justin Zhu The School Board of Directors and the School Committee warmly congratulate these members on their election and hope that they can take over the baton from the previous members as soon as possible and continue to better serve all students.
