Phoenix Chinese School Contributed On May 6th, Phoenix Chinese School held its 2012 graduation ceremony at Mesa Community College. After the graduates entered and took their seats, Principal Cheng Xiuling delivered a speech to the graduates with a reluctant heart. There are five graduates this year: the lively Pan Zhenghao, the Chinese-loving Yang Sian, the basketball master Li Yaotong, the smart Shen Peiying, and the studious Yu Yingheng. The most commendable thing is that Shen Peiying has persisted in attending Chinese school for fifteen years since she was a child. Pan Zhenghao, Li Yaotong and Yu Yingheng are cousins and went to Chinese school together since childhood. Although I speak Cantonese at home, I am also very fluent in Chinese.
>Dignified guest Ms. Zhang Qingling delivered a speech. Our school is honored to invite Ms. Zhang Qingling, who is well-known in the Chinese business community and overseas Chinese community in Arizona, to give a speech. Ms. Zhang shared valuable life experiences with the graduates, current students and parents present. She became a national tennis player representing Taiwan from a young age. When her tennis career was reaching its peak, her physical condition forced her to end her professional tennis career, and her life changed direction. After graduating from Waseda University in Japan, he moved to the United States and later opened a Best Western franchise hotel next to Phoenix Airport. Ms. Zhang not only distinguished herself in the business community, but also actively participated in activities of the overseas Chinese community and interacted with her fellow residents. She constantly encourages her daughters to learn Chinese. When they enter the workplace, Chinese will become their advantage. Therefore, she encouraged the graduates present to continue learning Chinese after graduation. She believed that this skill would be a useful tool for them to find jobs in the future.
Then the graduating class instructor, Ms. Lu Zhenling, introduced the graduates. Teacher Lu used the photos of each graduate to create a slideshow of their personal growth, and each graduate read a passage from Xu Zhimo's "Farewell to Cambridge". This poem brought a feeling of farewell, "I left quietly, just as I came quietly; I waved my sleeves, not taking away a single cloud." In the speeches given by these five graduates, they all said that they were not willing to attend Chinese school at first. But now that they think about it, they are grateful to their parents for their persistence and the teachers' earnest teachings, which allowed them to continue learning Chinese for many years. After the graduates gave their speeches, they sang "Childhood," "Friends" and "Rainbow" with the current tenth grade students. I hope that these three songs can evoke their happy childhood memories; the process of supporting and growing up together with their friends. And hope that they can become a shining rainbow in the future, illuminating the road of life. Then the school issued graduation certificates and gifts, and Ms. Zhang Qingling also gave each graduate an Apple gift certificate. Finally, under the leadership of Teacher Lu and Teacher Liu Yuchan, the students sang "I wish you happiness" to bring the graduation ceremony to an end. Here’s wishing them to spread their wings and fly high, and achieve great success! Registration for the 2012 Phoenix Chinese School fall class will start on August 12.
