On both sides of the Pacific, we celebrate together with heaven - Selected essays for the 2012 Independence Day (Second Prize) (Author: Zeng Wuxin, 14 years old) The joyful laughter intertwined with my complicated emotions. On the National Day of the United States, what can I do as an overseas Chinese? I am 14 years old this year. Two years ago today, I set foot on this land mixed with the fragrance of flowers and started my new life. I came here with a vision for the future, and this land gave me hope for the future. My mother often told me, as a human being, don’t forget your roots, don’t forget where you were born and where you come from. Yes, my motherland is China. She is my mother who has raised me for 12 years. I love my hometown and I love my mother even more. But just when I miss home and complain about this place, I have to admit that I have planted the seeds of my future here. China is like the clear water in my heart, quiet and comfortable, it is her that I miss. On the contrary, the United States is like a turbulent wave, waiting for me to break through and sprint. Therefore, I am grateful to the United States for nurturing me and giving me knowledge and a future. The National Day of the United States, also known as Independence Day, as the name suggests, is held on July 4 every year. This day is when American citizens commemorate the formal adoption of the Declaration of Independence by the Continental Congress in Philadelphia on July 4, 1776. It marks the formal separation of the British colonies in North America from the United Kingdom and the path to independent nation-building. It also symbolizes the freedom and independence of the United States. Speaking of the National Day of the United States, I have to talk about the courageous spirit of the American warriors in the war. In the history class, when the teacher talked about the reform path of the American people with great excitement, I listened with rapt attention. The vivid pictures seemed to be staged in front of my eyes like a vivid historical documentary. I was impressed by the tenacity of these patriots. As a new immigrant, I felt proud, and more importantly, I felt happy and moved by them. Americans’ desire and pursuit for freedom and equality allowed me to understand the background and growth of another culture. The core of Chinese people's thinking is individualism. In the past, I thought individualism meant selfishness, but this was a complete misunderstanding. Individualism and selfishness are two completely different concepts. I understand that individualism means working hard to realize your own life value. You only have one life. Instead of living it in a mediocre way, why not become a useful person and contribute to this society? Americans pursue freedom and equality. What they pursue is equality of starting points and equal opportunities, not equality of results. This has given me a lot of inspiration as a new immigrant. Even though I have only arrived here since junior high school, I have the same opportunities and conditions as ordinary peers. So there is no need to feel inferior or unable to hold your head high, because as long as you pay, you will gain. I also learned that Americans are always optimistic and enterprising. They are always optimistic and enterprising. My teacher always said to me, 'Don't be discouraged, try hard once and you will do well'. The optimistic and positive attitude of American teachers always gives me extremely strong self-confidence, allowing me to forge ahead bravely in the rapids and never give up easily. Americans also value work and labor very much. When children become adults, they rarely live with their parents and rarely need support from their parents. This is in great contrast with Chinese children. Chinese parents always blindly believe that children's learning is the key, so Chinese children are the treasures of parents. As a result, college graduates cannot find a job. It's different in the United States. High school students over the age of 16 can go out to work and contribute to their own lives and college tuition. College students generally work-study part-time, so-called studying and earning money. This cultural characteristic of the United States has completely changed the ancient concepts of me and my family. I began to learn to help my mother do things, work part-time, and started my own petty bourgeoisie life. ’ As the National Day of the United States approaches, I seem to deeply understand the true meaning of the Declaration of Independence. He has an independent heart and independent thoughts, advocates freedom and is optimistic and enterprising. Always remember that we are all warriors, not cowards. As overseas Chinese, we adhere to our ideals and realize our ideals! Finally, whether you are an overseas Chinese on one side of the Pacific or even a Chinese Huang on the other side, let us raise a glass and cheer for the National Day of the United States!
