Knowledge and health go hand in hand - 2012 Hope Chinese School Cultural Games (photo) (Alberta Times Winnie report) At 11:30 noon on November 4th, Chandler Tombaugh Wade Park was filled with pleasant fragrance. Many families studying Chinese came here to spend a happy weekend full of Chinese culture and Chinese art. This is the cultural sports meeting of Phoenix Hope Chinese School in 2012. Chandler City Councilman Jack Sellers, Chandler City Social Committee Deputy Director Cynthia Hardy and her family. Chandler Social Specialist Jimmy Li, Chandler Community Resource Coordinator Niki Tapia, Mesa Community College President Pan Shou'an, and Mesa Community College Human Resources and Community Cooperation Office Patricia Esparza went to the scene to watch the wonderful performances and enjoy the exotic customs brought by Chinese culture. Principal Zhao Caihong, the principal of Hope Chinese School, announced the official start of the event. Huang Shuangshuang, Chairman of the Board of Trustees of Hope Chinese School, spoke on behalf of the school and thanked the municipal government, various community departments, Mesa Community College, as well as the teachers, students, parents, and volunteers of the school for their strong support to the school's work. In the past few years, I hope that with everyone’s support, the Chinese school will enrich its learning and activities and improve its facilities. Huang Shuangshuang is particularly grateful to the Mesa Social Committee for sponsoring this cultural and sports meeting, as well as many parents who also contribute funds to the school. Special guest, Chandler City Councilor Jack said that he hopes that the development of Chinese schools will make the community more diverse and will be an important part of Chandler's education system. The guests, teachers and students watched the wonderful performances and selected the outstanding ones. In addition, Tai Chi, martial arts, and various ball games allowed participants to not only feast their eyes, but also exercise their muscles. Special guest, Professor Pan Shou'an, President of Mesa Community College, also participated in the Tai Chi performance to demonstrate the importance of rich knowledge and a healthy body. I hope that the 2012 Chinese School Cultural Games will bring knowledge and health home to everyone, and we hope to meet again next year.
