The state's minimum wage will increase by 30 cents in 2012. The minimum wage for wage earners will soon increase. Effective January 1, 2012, the minimum wage will increase by 30 cents to $7.65 an hour. Under Arizona law in 2006, the minimum hourly wage is tied to the cost of living. This salary increase means that full-time wages will increase by $624 per year, and an estimated 84,000 people in the state will benefit. Eighteen states in the United States plus the District of Columbia have minimum wages above 7.25 an hour. Similarly, starting from January 1 next year, San Francisco’s minimum hourly wage will be raised from US$9.92 to US$10.24, an increase of US$0.32 per hour. San Francisco has become the first city in the United States with a minimum hourly wage of more than US$10.
