More than 42 percent of Arizona home sales in 2011 were bankruptcies, a new analysis shows. That number is up 12 percent from 2010 but down slightly from the 2009 number. A report released Thursday by a bankrupt home sales tracking company showed that in the last three months of 2011, the proportion of bankrupt home sales dropped to 38% of sales. Last year, bankruptcy and short-sale home sales averaged 27% below normal sales prices. The average sales price is around $122,400. Throughout 2011, 84,698 homes were sold at a loss across the state, and more than 60,000 people were bankrupt or in the process of bankruptcy.
