Father and son hunt and pick up 200 pounds of drugs (Alberta Times) Last Thursday, Pierre Mendotti took his son and friends to hunt in Sasabi, the U.S.-Mexico border, during the holiday. Unexpectedly, he didn't catch any game, but picked up hundreds of pounds of illegal drugs. "I have been hunting in this area every December for the past 20 years. There were many small deer that day, but no big deer," Mendotti said. They reached the top of the mountain and found something under the bushes, not an animal, but bundles of marijuana. Mendotti said he didn't know who had left the drugs at the location, so he notified the National Guard. The Border Patrol could not confirm the incident, but said Sasabi is on one of the busiest drug smuggling corridors in the United States and it is possible someone intentionally hid the drugs at the location. "Border Patrol commends residents for their assistance as they provide very valuable information. However, we emphasize that we discourage anyone from approaching or interfering with drugs as this involves smuggling, illegal entry, and potentially catastrophic consequences for residents," a Border Patrol spokesperson said. "Citizens experiencing suspicious activity can anonymously call 1-877-872-7435."
