Deng Wenhua, a figure in the overseas Chinese community (2) In Feini, when talking about Mr. Deng Wenhua, people will give thumbs up and praise his spirit of serving overseas Chinese for decades. Some old overseas Chinese said: For a long time, Chinese people have come to Feini to do business and make a living, especially those who run grocery stores, and they have turned to Mr. Wenhua. To this day, the families and families of many overseas Chinese who have benefited have not forgotten Mr. Wenhua’s kindness. In 1989, Deng Wenhua was listed in "Who's Who in Arizona Grocery Stores" for his achievements. Local media promoted his resume. He was born in Feini City in 1915; in 1929, his mother sent his brothers back to China to study at Yongmei School in Hulong Township, Kaiping County, Guangdong, their ancestral home. In 1934, he graduated from the junior high school of Peiying Middle School in Guangdong City and returned to the United States in the same year; in 1936, he graduated from the high school of UNION HIGH SCHOOL in Phoenix. From then on, this young man who was fluent in Chinese and English took over his mother's business and ran a grocery store for 25 years. Now, he is an industrialist who owns "Central Real Estate Assets Company", "Deng's Enterprise Company", "Taihua Travel Agency" and other companies. For half a century, Mr. Deng, for the rights and welfare of overseas Chinese, while doing business, actively participated in various social activities, joined various Western and Chinese groups, harmonized among Westerners, spoke for the Chinese, and strived for social status. He has held many positions. In terms of business, he is one of the founders of the Arizona Warehouse Chamber of Commerce (a service group) and served as the president of the association; a member of the Arizona United Warehouse Chamber of Commerce (the largest issuing company in the state that is mainly Westerners); a director of BETTERBUSINESS (an organization that protects the rights and interests of businessmen); a director of the Arizona Loan Association; and chairman of the Arizona Small Business Council. In terms of social activities: he is a member and director of the MEMORIAL Hospital; a director of the Phoenix Youth League; a member of the Dragon Club; a member of the Rotary International; a director of the Arizona Salvation Army; the founder and former chairman of the First Chinese Baptist Church of Phoenix; the chairman of the Phoenix Industrial and Commercial Association; won the title of Model Male Citizen of Phoenix in 1968; the founder of the Phoenix United Welfare Association, a former chairman; a member of the Arizona Select Group of Five; BARROW NEUROLOGIAL INSTITUTE Hospital director; several presidents and executive members of the National Chinese Welfare Association, several presidents, consultants, representatives of the southwest branch of the association, consultants of the Chinese National Overseas Chinese Affairs Commission; director of the Arizona Economic Development Committee to Assist Minorities; director and member of the Phoenix Baptist Church; member of the Professional Advisory Committee of the Phoenix Auditorium, etc. Now, at the age of seventy-five, Mr. Wenhua is still full of energy, participating in many social activities, and serving the overseas Chinese compatriots unremittingly. He told reporters: "I have reached retirement age, and I have recommended a group of talented people to take on the responsibilities of the overseas Chinese community. I have set a goal of serving the Chinese in the United States." The desire to serve the society in order to stabilize and develop has always been unswerving. The Chinese nation is an excellent nation. I hope that talents will emerge in large numbers to serve the Chinese people in Arizona. In the future, Chinese people will run for office as state representatives and governors to benefit the overseas Chinese in Arizona. This is my lofty wish.
