A state justice department spokeswoman said on the 28th that a man who tried to cross the border into Mexico last week was shot and killed by a U.S. Border Patrol sentry. Cochise County Justice Department spokeswoman Capas said that on the 21st, border guards killed 19-year-old American man Carlos La Madrid when he drove a truck carrying 48 pounds of marijuana to the border line and then tried to use a ladder to climb over the fence into Mexico. U.S. border guards allegedly hit the man with rocks and then shot him to death.
