A Christmas surprise! A boy sent 180,000 cards to American soldiers overseas (Alberta Times) An 11-year-old boy from the town of Surprise accomplished an amazing mission - he created 180,000 Christmas cards to send to US troops deployed overseas. Dozens of cardboard boxes filled with personalized thank-you cards were stacked in the family's driveway. Starting last year, 10-year-old Stephen Goodman came up with the plan. "My grandfather was stationed in Vietnam and he didn't get any cards for the holidays, which made him feel forgotten. So I want our troops overseas to know that they will not be forgotten, no matter how far away from home they are," Stephen said. What prompted his idea was an interview with him last year on Fox 10. After reading the interview, Kodak Printing provided Stephen with 100,000 greeting cards. In addition to the 80,000 cards purchased by the boy's family, Steve and his family signed a total of 180,000 greeting cards. It was then sent to Luke Air Force Base and then shipped to U.S. military bases around the world. "I want them to know that there are people here who care about them," Stephen said.
