Governor Doug Ducey announced on Twitter on Monday that people 16 and older in Arizona will be able to get the COVID-19 vaccine starting Wednesday, March 24. He said the vaccine will be distributed at vaccination sites in Maricopa, Pima and Yuma counties in Arizona. Maricopa County will adopt the same priority order as the state and will open vaccine appointments to more age groups.

Under the FDA's vaccine emergency use authorization, county medical facilities will provide appointments for all residents 18 and older who have received the Moderna and Janssen vaccines and 16 and older who have received the Pfizer vaccine.

>ADHS is now open by appointment every Friday at 11 a.m. at State Farm Stadium in Glendale, Arizona State University Phoenix Municipal Stadium in Tempe, Chandler-Gilbert Community College, the University of Arizona in downtown Tucson and the Yuma Civic Center in Yuma County.

As of Tuesday, March 23, there are still approximately 34,200 available appointment slots for this week (through Sunday), which are open to people aged 55 and over. Starting at 8 a.m. on March 24 (today), everyone can make an appointment to register for the remaining appointment slots this week. ADHS plans to open approximately 80,000 first-dose appointments at 11 a.m. Friday, March 26, including at a new vaccination site in Yuma.

"We anticipate that appointments will be filled very quickly this week and next week," state Health Department Director Dr. Kara Crist said Monday. "We've had 100,000, 110,000 appointments booked within 30 to 45 minutes...so we expect those appointments may be filled up very quickly Wednesday morning."
