A crime paradise? Murders in Alberta increased by 16% year-on-year. The latest FBI statistics show that murders across the United States are showing signs of decreasing, but murders in Arizona increased by 16% compared with the same period last year. A crime report released Monday showed there were 409 murders and non-negligent manslaughters in the state in 2010, up from 354 in 2009, an increase of 15.5 percent. Among the cities in the state, Tucson saw a significant increase in murders, with 35 cases in 2009 and 51 cases in 2010, an increase of 46%. Nationwide, according to the FBI report, murder and non-negligent manslaughter fell 4.2% last year, and overall violent crime fell 6%, marking the fourth consecutive year-over-year decline. Property crime also fell by 2.7% nationally. In the state, violent crime fell 3.1% overall and property crime dropped 3.7%.
