> Federal $1.4 million to build housing to aid the homeless The Maricopa County Government recently received three federal grants, totaling $1.4 million, to build housing for the homeless. The grants come from the federal Department of Housing and Urban Development. The money will provide 52 units of permanent housing for the region's homeless, the county said. Overall, the federal government will provide more than $219 million to Maricopa County to help homeless people return to normal family life through the construction of transitional housing, permanent housing and other 56 projects.
