Reporters learned from relevant departments of the Jiangsu Provincial Government at 16:00 that on the morning of the 22nd, a major road traffic accident occurred 1 kilometer away from the Ningtai Line of the Yanjiang Expressway, killing 13 people and injuring 21 others. The cause of the accident is currently under investigation.

At 9:25 on the 22nd, a bus numbered Shanghai BL1290 from Yiliu Car Rental Service Company in Nanhui District, Shanghai, departing from Shanghai People's Square, traveling to 1 kilometer away from the Ningtai Line, suddenly rushed through the middle isolation barrier and collided with a truck numbered Su ED1655 that was traveling normally on the opposite side of the barrier, causing the two vehicles to roll over and causing many casualties.

After receiving the report, the main leaders of the Jiangsu Provincial Party Committee and Provincial Government attached great importance to it and immediately issued instructions, requiring all efforts to rescue the injured and properly handle the aftermath. The leaders in charge of the provincial government, the Provincial Public Security Department, the Work Safety Supervision Bureau, the Transportation Department, the Transportation Holding Company, Suzhou City, and Changshu City leaders rushed to the scene immediately and directed relevant parties to quickly carry out on-site disposal and rescue work. The injured persons were immediately sent to three local hospitals for treatment.

The reporter learned from the interview that the bus had a load of 37 people and an actual capacity of 33 people. In the accident, 6 people in the bus died on the spot, and 6 people died after rescue efforts failed; the driver of the truck died on the spot. Currently, there are 21 injured people being treated in the hospital, 4 of whom are seriously injured.
