On November 9th, Chinese people in Alberta will hold a rally in front of ABC15 in Phoenix. Dear Chinese compatriots in Alberta: Distance from ABC The broadcast on October 16th...

Local families

Dear fellow Chinese compatriots in Alberta:

It has been three weeks since ABC aired Jimmy Kimmel's "Children's Roundtable" program on October 16th, which contained the "Kill all Chinese" remarks. Although ABC Entertainment issued a letter of apology amid strong protests from Chinese groups, and Jimmy Kimmel himself also made an informal apology at a Chinese demonstration in Los Angeles, the "we are just entertainment" apology lacked sincerity. ABC Entertainment and Kimmel I did not receive any substantial punishment. Chinese people across the country will hold demonstrations in various cities on November 9 to condemn ABC for allowing the spread of racial hatred and massacre remarks, and to express their demands for ethnic equality and respect. Our Chinese community in Alberta will also hold a rally in front of ABC15 in Phoenix on November 9th. For more background on this incident, please refer to the attached link.

[Meeting Time] 11/9/2013 Saturday 10am to 1pm

[Meeting Location] ABC15 door. Address: 515 North 44th Street, Phoenix, AZ. Opposite Chinatown, you can park your car in the parking lot of Xinxin Supermarket in Chinatown and walk across the street to 44th Street to gather. Just find other compatriots with placards. We are applying for permission from the city government and the police department, and will notify everyone before Friday if the location changes.

[Placard] Please do not respond to racial discrimination with personal attacks and racially discriminatory remarks. Instead, write slogans with universal values that can resonate with other races and other groups of people. Slogans can be handwritten or printed on FEDEX/UBS. Placards and promotional videos carried by individuals should be related to the theme of the rally and should not involve other political demands.

[Other Formats] If you can't attend the rally Saturday morning, you can vote on the White House Investigation Petition at https://petitions.whitehouse.gov/petition/investigate-jimmy-kimmel-kids-table-government-shutdown-show-abc-network/tLxzbBjg. As of November 6, the petition has 98843 signatures, and there are still 1157 signatures left. Please call on more people to participate in the petition! You can also write letters of protest to your Congressman and Senator or to the advertisers of the Kimmel show.

We hope that through these efforts, the Chinese will no longer be ignored and easily ridiculed in the United States, and strive for a more equal and open social environment for us, so that our children can grow up with more respect and friendship. This is a great opportunity for our voices to be heard by local media and the community. Please bring your children and mobilize your friends and family to attend this rally!
