In order to enhance exchanges among members and provide a platform for academic and career advancement for Chinese science and technology professionals in Alberta, the Tsinghua University Alumni Association’s Alberta branch has begun to hold a series of professional salon activities, covering new technology trends, job hunting, career development, technology entrepreneurship, etc.
Because of Thanksgiving, some alumni and family members of alumni working in China will return to the United States to celebrate the holiday. We took this opportunity to invite Jun Shen, who has multiple experiences in business, academia and returning to overseas entrepreneurship, to share with alumni his entrepreneurial experience in China and the development atmosphere of domestic new technology and new enterprises. After the speeches, there will be a festive tea party and games for alumni to mingle.

This event is particularly beneficial to industry professionals and students interested in finding development opportunities in China. Alumni who are interested in the activities of the Alumni Association are also welcome to attend the tea party afterwards to make suggestions for the development of the Alumni Association.

Speaker Bio
Jun Shen received his PhD in Physics from the Univeristy of Notre Dame in 1990 and became a member of the technical staff at the Motorola Corporate Research Laboratory in Phoenix the same year. He moved to Arizona State University (ASU) in 1996 where he held a faculty position until 2006 when he dedicated full time to his entrepreneurial activities in the U.S. In fall, 2008, he started a new venture independently. His China operation started a year later focusing on a new generation of micro-magnetic relay products. Jun is an avid inventor, has an extensive invention portfolio. He received several awards in his career for his technical achievements. He is a world leading expert on microelectromechanical systems especially micro-magnetic switches.
