The peanut butter infection problem has expanded, and about 100 products have been recalled. The FDA said that the retailer Trader A recall of Valencia peanut butter products sold at Joe's has expanded to recall about 100 Sunland products that contain peanuts, tree nuts and seeds. U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) officials said the recalls were initiated by Chattanooga Baking Company, Falcon Trading Company/SunRidge Farms, Gretchen Shoebox Express and Whole Foods Market. The FDA and CDC, along with state and local public health officials, are investigating a multi-state outbreak of salmonella infections that may be linked to Valencia salted peanut butter sold at Trader Joe’s. The CDC says 30 people in 19 states have been infected with the Salmonella strain Bredeney, the CDC said. Sunland also expanded the recall, from just a few to 76 last week, to 100 products, including peanut butter and other products made with nuts and seeds, produced on the same production line between May 1 and September 24. A list of recalled products is available at http://www.fda.gov/Food/FoodSafety/CORENetwork/ucm320413.htm
