Do you want to quit smoking? The federal government has established a smoking cessation hotline for Asian smokers, which provides free telephone counseling in Chinese (Mandarin and Cantonese) and free nicotine patches for two weeks. Research shows that individual counseling and nicotine patches are an effective combination for successful smoking cessation. Please call the hotline: 1-800-838-8917
Mandarin-speaking counselors are available Monday to Friday, 8 a.m. to 9 p.m. Pacific Time, to provide you with telephone counseling. Recorded smoking cessation information or voice messages are available 24 hours a day. English speakers can get free smoking cessation counseling through the Arizona Smokers Help Line (ASHLine): 1-800-556-6222.
