>1st anniversary of the shooting, Councilor Giffords returned to the scene of the incident (Alberta Times) One year after the shooting, Councilor Giffords returned to the supermarket where he was shot on the 8th. According to reports, one year after the shooting in Tucson, a commemorative event was held on the 8th. When the bell rang, girls in white danced gracefully, and clergy also offered prayers. The shooting that occurred last year resulted in 6 deaths and 13 injuries, including Congressman Giffords who suffered a serious brain injury. Giffords has not fully recovered from her head injury. She and her husband, retired astronaut Kelly, attended the one-light party that night, which concluded a whole day of commemorative events. Gunmen opened fire on people attending a voter meeting there on January 8 last year. Nineteen people were shot, and six of them died, including a 9-year-old girl, Giffords' assistant, and a federal judge. The suspected gangster is 23-year-old college dropout Loughner. Loughner, who has a history of mental illness, was charged with 49 counts, including first-degree murder and attempted assassination of Giffords. The official commemoration event officially started on the 8th at 10:11 a.m., the time of the incident last year, and bells rang throughout the city. Giffords and her husband attended a candlelight vigil held at the University of Arizona on the evening of the 8th. The event is expected to attract thousands of Tucson residents
