The latest Arizona Farm Bureau Federation market survey shows that retail grain prices have fallen by about 1% in the past three months, with the total cost of 16 basic groceries falling by 60 cents compared with the fourth quarter of 2011. However, market research in the first quarter of 2012 showed that food prices in the state increased by 6% compared with the same period last year. Nationwide, food prices rose 7% year-on-year. The Agriculture Bureau said that this season is a good time to save money by cooking at home and buying fruits and vegetables.
