On the evening of Sunday, September 21st, Hualian of Alberta launched the "Mid-Autumn Reunion Dinner" for the first time after the 8th "Phoenix Night" to celebrate the Mid-Autumn Festival and the National Day came to a successful conclusion. The first "Mid-Autumn Festival Reunion Dinner" was held and received enthusiastic response from various Chinese organizations in Arizona and other ethnic communities in the United States. In the banquet hall, old and new friends held candles and gave blessings, reminiscing about old times, laughing and cheering, creating harmony and warmth. Mr. Doug Ducey, Arizona State Treasurer and the Republican nominee with a strong claim to win this year's Arizona gubernatorial election, attended the dinner and delivered a speech to express his heartfelt holiday wishes to the Chinese community; Mr. Jim Lane, Mayor of Scottsdale, blessed this holiday for Chinese family reunions. He said that Scottsdale has established a sister city relationship with Haikou City, and the two cities interact closely and bring different perspectives of the world together. Ms. Zhang Huafang, President of the Chinese Restaurant Association of Alberta, praised the fine traditions of various Chinese and overseas Chinese groups in the province to support and encourage each other and jointly serve the Chinese community in the province. Mr. Zhen Shuoqin, an overseas Chinese who is nearly 80 years old and the president of "Alberta Times", recalled with emotion that the Chinese overseas Chinese community is doing better and better.
