What's hotter than the sun is... - Notes on the opening ceremony and health day of Tucson's first Chinese Culture Festival Huiming, Tucson special correspondent of the "Alberta Times" Arizona is famous for its sunshine. On September 22, the Chinese in Tucson used their enthusiasm to paint the state's diverse culture with a hot Chinese color. Tucson’s Chinese Culture Festival, planned and hosted by the Confucius Institute at the University of Arizona (Confucius Institute at the University of Arizona), kicked off at Reid Park in central Tucson. The opening and first day of the cultural festival were themed on health. Chinese groups from all walks of life in Tucson, as well as American associations related to Chinese culture, as well as local people, enthusiastically participated in various activities at the opening ceremony of the Chinese Cultural Festival. They used their own unique Chinese elements and symbols to interpret the secrets of Chinese culture's restraint, femininity and long history. At the opening ceremony of the cultural festival, Tucson Mayor Jonathan Rothschild first spoke on behalf of the Tucson City Government. He highly affirmed and praised the contributions made by the Chinese in Tucson to local history and development. ’ Tucson is a multicultural city. This has always been the characteristic and advantage of our city. ’ Rothschild specifically pointed out: ‘In recent years, the Chinese community has flourished in Tucson, and Chinese culture has taken root, blossomed, and bore fruit in every corner of social life in the city of Tucson. We are very proud of this and it is a real success story. Professor Gail Burd, Vice Provost of the University of Arizona, emphasized in her speech that the University of Arizona attaches great importance to its relationship with China and hopes to maintain close ties with relevant Chinese institutions and exchanges and cooperation in the field of education. ’ Professor Iman Hakim, Dean of the School of Public Health at the University of Asia, also delivered a passionate speech at the opening ceremony, saying that he was very happy to participate in the hosting of this Chinese Culture Festival and hoped that through the success of the cultural festival, he could spread more health concepts in Chinese culture to the local people in the United States. China's Henan Hanban and Henan Martial Arts Academy also sent personnel to attend the opening ceremony of the cultural festival and presented them with exquisite scrolls of "Along the River During the Qingming Festival". After the congratulations from the Director of the Confucius Institute at Asia University and the Mayor of Tucson, the heroes and beauties from all walks of life were either gearing up or standing gracefully, eager to show the audience the beautiful situation of Chinese life and the profoundness of Chinese culture. The performance led by the Tucson Chinese Tai Chi Team attracted all the audiences present. This is not only because their soft yet firm and generous skills appropriately demonstrate the connotation of Chinese culture and the Chinese style, but also because the Tai Chi team, regardless of age or gender, made the white kung fu uniforms set off waves of silver in the performance center. Even American kung fu enthusiasts couldn't hold back their excitement and participated in the performance, using their muscles and strength to perform different Chinese Tai Chi. A senior local Tai Chi master said excitedly that he could not sleep at night because he had seen every move in his mind, because participating in such a performance was a way for the Chinese in Tucson to showcase the culture of their home country. Indeed, no words can describe their excitement at this moment. Huazi Dance Troupe and their young echelon showed the audience another kind of beauty of life. They use their graceful dancing to tell and remind people that in that distant hometown, in the hearts of every Chinese, there will always be a beautiful childhood and wonderful longing. When you greet each new day with joy, you will find that the spring rain is so kind, selflessly nourishing the lush seedlings; you will find that the beautiful peacock is right beside you, dancing gracefully; you will find that true love is so precious, just between you and me; and you will find that the hot sun is also so kind, with so much kindness and warmth! The audience thanked the actors with warm applause because they understood why Chinese girls will always be beautiful and youthful? Why is Chinese culture so long-standing and enduring? Because only with a healthy mentality can we have a healthy body, a beautiful life, and the normalcy of Chinese culture that will last forever. The sun was hot that day, but what was hotter than the sun was the enthusiasm of the Chinese people in Tucson. In order to convey more information about Chinese culture to local Americans, various Chinese groups and organizations used various greenhouse booths to condense many codes of healthy Chinese living. The Confucius Institute at Asia University displays various healthy vegetables from China. The rare shapes and varieties of vegetables have attracted many Americans to stop and ask. The booth of Zu Xun Chinese School was crowded with parents and children who came to consult. Art masters from Tsinghua University in Beijing and East China Normal University in Shanghai, as well as painters who came specially from Phoenix, the capital of the state, painted for the children on the spot, using different tastes and expressions to attract the children's admiration and exclamation. Perhaps the booth that attracted the most visitors was the Seven Cup Tea booth in Tucson. When people shout hoarse for the wonderful performance, and when the sun touches the enthusiastic audience so intimately, a cup of refreshing Chinese tea is the best gift for a healthy life. The owner prepared various flavors of herbal tea to provide convenience for the actors and the audience, and also conveyed the good Chinese taste of healthy drinks. It turns out that Chinese culture has so many wonderful flavors! The audience who attended the opening ceremony of the Tucson Chinese Culture Festival expressed their sincere emotions. Looking forward to it, everyone is looking forward to more good voices and good images in the week-long Chinese cultural display, which will add the wonderful color of the East to the diverse American culture.
