Federal health officials warn consumers not to eat Valencia Creamy Salted peanut butter sold in Trader Joe’s stores because the product may be contaminated with salmonella, which has sickened 29 people in 18 states. Trader Joe’s has pulled the product from stores across the country and posted a notice on the company’s website. Consumers should return the peanut butter, item number 97111, to Trader Joe’s stores for a full refund. The federal Food and Drug Administration (FDA) says children under five, the elderly and people with compromised immune systems should avoid products that may be linked to the salmonella Bredeney outbreak.
