The new home of USA Basketball's headquarters is coming to Tempe City as part of the $436 million Mill Street renovation. Construction of this project is expected to begin in December this year. The developer has signed a 99-year lease agreement with Arizona State University for use of 10.7 acres east of Mill Street, University Avenue and 10th Street. In addition to housing the sports venues, the project also includes a full-service hotel and conference center, luxury apartments, retail stores, offices and underground parking. The entire project is built next door to Arizona State University in a walkable, sustainable business district. The US Basketball Headquarters manages 10 basketball teams participating in international competitions, including the Olympic Games and World Championships. The NBA and WNBA will train here in the future. Because the venue is not expected to be completed until the end of 2016, the 2016 Olympic Games will not be held here. After the center is completed, it is expected to attract 350,000 tourists every year and bring in revenue of 115 million. The Mayor of Tempe said that this USA Place will become a new city center.
