SPR begins to receive Queen Creek solar power generation (Alberta Times) The local Salt River Project Power Company announced that from early October, SPR will receive Queen Creek (Queen Creek) power Creek solar power station with 19 megawatts of electricity. The Queen Creek Solar Power Station is located about 30 miles southeast of Phoenix and covers an area of 148 acres. It receives solar energy from 90,000 crystallized panels. The energy generated by the project can be supplied to 3,300 SPR customers and is estimated to offset 21,000 metric tons of carbon dioxide emissions per year, which is equivalent to removing approximately 4,100 cars from the road. SPR's goal is that solar power generation can meet 20% of electricity demand by 2020. 19 MW can only meet 10% of the electricity demand. SPR is the third largest electric utility company in the United States, with nearly 950,000 electric customers in the greater Phoenix metropolitan area.
