Another RV-74 plane crashed, killing a pilot. The Federal Aviation Administration said that a small plane crashed about 25 miles northwest of Konggang International Airport on Saturday afternoon, and the pilot died on the spot. The small plane crashed in the desert near Belts Canal, north of the 303 Beltway and east of 163rd Avenue, with no other passengers on board. The pilot of the single-engine plane radioed air traffic controllers at Luke Air Force Base around 1 p.m. for help, saying he had lost control and his plane was descending, spokesman Ian McGregor said. This is a light commercial experimental RV-74 aircraft. According to the manufacturer's website, the aircraft can accommodate two passengers. The pilot was identified as 53-year-old Glendale resident Terrance Donohue. The plane was registered in his name. The U.S. Aviation Administration and the National Transportation Safety Board will open a case to investigate the cause of the accident.
