(contributed by the Alberta Hualian) Recently, Congressman Matt Salmon convened a joint meeting of the Asian and Pacific Islander Advisory Committee in his office. Leaders of various Asian and Pacific Islander communities attended the meeting. The newly appointed members of the Asian Pacific American Advisory Committee, President Wang Weizi and Vice President Li Jian of the Hualian Association of Alberta were also invited to attend the meeting. The Asian and Pacific Islander Advisory Committee aims to provide constructive advice for the government to promote extensive cultural, economic, and technological exchanges between Asia and the Pacific and the United States. At the meeting, the feasibility of turning the Mesa Williams Gateway into an international commercial airport was discussed in depth. The next meeting is planned for September this year.
