Giants are selling off The “pie” war in the Chinese market intensifies

Yesterday, Apple lowered the price of the 16GB and 32GB WiFi versions of refurbished iPad 1, with the 16GB iPad 1 refurbished $30 lower than the price in June. After HP announced that it would give up its PC business, its tablet TouchPad began to sell off, with the 16GB version of TouchPad slashed by $300.

Industry insiders said yesterday that once a large number of refurbished Apple machines and HP TouchPads enter the Chinese market, tablet computers of domestic companies may face an impact.

Apple: Selling refurbished machines at reduced prices

It is reported that Apple yesterday lowered the prices of refurbished machines of the first-generation 16GB and 32G WiFi versions of the iPad at the same time. Among them, the 16GB iPad has been reduced to US$299, which is US$30 lower than the June price of the same model of refurbished iPad and US$184 lower than the lowest price of a new model. Apple has also lowered the price of the first-generation 32GB WiFi version of the refurbished iPad (model MB293LL/A) to US$399.

It is reported that these two refurbished machines enjoy a one-year warranty service just like the new ones.

It is understood that the 16GB Apple refurbished iPad was sold out soon after it was reduced to US$299, and was sold out again after replenishing supplies.

HP:

Selling out tablet computers

A few days ago, HP announced that it would abandon the PC business. Subsequently, large quantities of the TouchPad tablet computer, which had just been launched, began to be cleared in large quantities.

According to Best Buy, HP has significantly reduced the price of the 16GB WiFi version of TouchPad from the original $399.99 to $99.99, and the price of the 32GB version of the TouchPad from the original $499.99 to $149.99, a reduction of up to or more than 70%.

It is reported that TouchPad is a product launched by HP on July 2 in response to the current tablet computer craze. At that time, the two capacity versions of TouchPad 16GB/32GB were priced at US$499.99 and US$599.99 respectively. The pricing was almost the same as that of iPad 2. However, due to subsequent poor sales performance, HP announced on August 12 that it would lower the prices of TouchPad tablets by US$100.

Domestic current situation:

Each "pad" secret war

Reporters visited a number of IT stores in Guangzhou yesterday and found that there was no abnormality in the prices of tablet computers of various brands.

The reporter learned from Motorola’s channel dealer that Motorola has reduced XOOM from the original 4,998 yuan to 3,998 yuan.

On Samsung's official website, reporters found that Samsung is currently vigorously promoting several new tablet computers it will soon launch. Huayin Company, on the other hand, focuses on promoting office functions that the iPad does not have, and has jointly customized strategies with China Telecom and China Unicom. At the same time, in order to compete for the market below 2,800 yuan, Lenovo launched a 7-inch LePad A1 tablet in August. The current official price is 2,499 yuan.

Shenzhen channel dealer Lu Qiao said that the quality of Apple's official refurbished machines should be guaranteed. If a large number of low-priced iPad 1 refurbished machines enter the Chinese market, and HP's TouchPad comes in at a lower price, the "pie" war in the Chinese market will intensify. At present, some mobile phone channel dealers in Shenzhen have begun to raise funds and prepare to purchase goods. (Source: Guangzhou Daily)
