Taiwan Mother's Day Activities: Baby Mommy FUN Tea On Mother's Day 2013, the Women's Department of the Kuomintang held a "Baby Mommy FUN Tea" event simultaneously in various counties and cities on May 11. The local party departments provided tea products with local characteristics, and invited local representatives and other distinguished guests to join the public in serving tea to hard-working mothers and sending greeting cards signed by Chairman Ma Ying-jeou and carnation flowers to express their love and respect for mothers. Chen Yumei, director of the Women's Department of the Kuomintang and Taipei City Councilor, said that even simple actions can make mothers who always give selflessly feel extremely warm and moved. Therefore, since the 100th year of the Republic of China, the Women's Department of the Kuomintang has held an event every year in which women volunteers send carnations and greeting cards named after Chairman Ma Ying-jeou to their mothers in crowded places such as markets or MRT stations. This year, in addition to continuing the content of the past activities, it also combines local specialty teas with its characteristics and names to give more meaning and symbolism to the tea given to mothers, telling the children's deepest gratitude to their mothers. Chen Yumei said that Hsinchu County and City will prepare Oriental Beauty Tea, which is not only a traditional tea for Hakka people, but also has the meaning of wishing mothers eternal beauty; in addition to preparing health tea to convey the hope that mothers will always be healthy, Greater Tainan also thoughtfully provides astragalus, wolfberry and red date tea that can enhance immunity and prevent H7N9; Kinmen’s Yitiaogen tea has the effect of soothing soreness; Hualien’s Acanthopanax tea has health-preserving and moisturizing properties. It has the function of liver detoxification; golden jujube tea, a specialty of Yuanshan Township, Yilan County, is particularly good at soothing the throat; others such as Biling tea from Yunlin, Baozhong tea from New Taipei City, and sea bird's nest (stone flower jelly) that is unique to Keelung and has cooling and fire-reducing properties. They are also high-quality teas or drinks with local characteristics. They can express the highest gratitude and blessings to mothers, and at the same time help local promotion of tea products, enriching the content of this year's Mother's Day celebrations. For the detailed time and location of the event, you can check the "Sisters, Sisters Like" Facebook page of the Kuomintang Women's Department. Chen Yumei invites everyone to come and participate in this holiday that belongs to mothers, and offer her a cup of tea and a carnation to express her deepest gratitude and filial piety to her mother.
